DISCOVER: The World’s Most Famous Pedestrian Crossing
There aren’t many sections of road more trodden, filmed and photographed than Tokyo’s
famous Shibuya (Scramble) Crossing. Rumoured to be the busiest intersection in
the world (and certainly in Japan), the junction sees hundreds, and at peak
times thousands of people pacing across pedestrian crossings in all directions,
at every change of the lights. The iconic crossing has become symbolic of
Tokyo’s frenetic energy, and is most impressive when seen after dark on a
Friday or Saturday night when crowds are at their thickest.
