NATURE: Sightseeing with a Porpoise

The oceans of Japan may be famous for their quality seafood and surprisingly tropical beaches, but it’s Japan’s magnificent array of humpback whales, killer whales, sperm whales, striped dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and porpoises that is capturing the world’s interest in the waters of Japan.

Coastal towns and villages across Japan now set sail on regular whale watching trips, celebrating these majestic creatures and providing sustainable and ethical business to these small fishing communities. With the number of whale watching expeditions across Japan doubling in the past 20 years, it’s clear that the island nation has just as much to offer off-land as it does on.
