NATURE: In Japan’s Most Creative Campsite

Opening for business earlier this year, Circus Outdoor Tokyo is a campsite like no other. Just two hours drive from central Tokyo, the vast glamping site is well worth the trip out of the city and offers something totally different for those on the hunt for accommodation in Japan’s busy capital.

Occupying a large swathe of woodland to the west of the city, it’s hard to believe you’re still in Tokyo as you gaze over nearby Lake Okutama and the mountains beyond. Whilst there are a number of tents to choose from, the ones you want to make a bid for are the five original yurts, each with a unique interior designed by renowned Japanese stylists. A communal dining tent serves up set meals prepared by first-class chefs, or for those wanting a more private experience, guests can order dinner to be prepared by a personal chef directly outside their tent, followed by a private campfire.

Whilst the site is Circus Outdoor’s first permanent site, the glamping company have built up something of a cult following over the past few years after launching pop-up events around Japan.
