NATURE: Snow Monkeys of Jigokudani

Visitors to Japan’s Jigokudani Yaen-Koen may be surprised to find themselves sharing the hot mountain springs with Japanese macaques, or snow monkeys. Unique to Japan, the mountain-dwelling monkeys have learned to keep warm in winter by bathing in the onsen, and the Jigokudani Valley has become a popular destination for nature enthusiasts wanting to see the phenomena in person.
