DISCOVER: Sumo Spring Basho

The Sumo Spring Basho is one of the six annual Grand Tournaments of Sumo and the only chance to see a professional Sumo match in Osaka. From Sunday 8^th to Sunday 22^nd March, the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium, also known as the ‘Bodymaker Colosseum’, opens its door to wrestlers and fans, hosting back-to-back matches from dawn till dusk. Gaining momentum throughout the day, lower-ranked wrestlers take to the dohyō first. As drama builds and excitement mounts, energy in the stadium meets a daily crescendo when local favourites, undefeated champions and stars of the sport go head-to-head.
