For over 100 years, Japanese candlemakers Daiyo have been contemplating the relationship between man and flame, bringing calm and comfort to the homes of thousands with their hand-crafted candles, or warousoku.
Through four generations, family-run Daiyo have mastered the art of hand-crafting traditional Japanese candles using natural materials, free from contaminants. Working tirelessly from their workshop in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, Daiyo’s craftsmen draw on decades of knowledge and skill, moulding locally-sourced plant wax into a core range of sustainable, timeless candles.
Burning for twice as long as contemporary candles with almost no smoke, odour or dripping wax, Daiyo’s warousoku provide gentle flames to eat, drink, bathe or meditate beside.
