DISCOVER: Akihabara Adventure

Standing proud in the centre of Tokyo, Japan’s Akihabara district is the place to be for all things ‘otaku’ – the diehard fan culture which originated in Japan, that has quickly spread overseas in recent years. Also known as ‘Akihabara Electric Town’, the area is full with family-owned stalls and retail giants dedicated to anime, manga, gaming, collectibles, and electronics.

For the full experience, why not check out Radio Kaiken, the home of figurines and trading cards spanning over 10 floors, or Mandarake – impressively one of the largest anime and manga stores in the world. And with places such as the Gundham Café now springing up across the district, visitors can immerse themselves in anime culture even when making a pit stop.
