FOOD: Tokyo’s Best Sesame Ice Cream

It’s only been a few months since Gomaya Kuki opened for business but the unassuming Tokyo ice cream stand has already gained a legion of fans. Hidden away in the backstreets of Omotesando, Gomaya Yuki specialises in sesame, or ‘goma’ ice cream, using ingredients from long-standing sesame house Kiku Sangyo. Aimed at true sesame enthusiasts, Gomaya Kuki not only offer much-loved kuro (black) and shiro (white) sesame ice cream in varying densities, but have also put their own spin on this Japanese favourite with flavours such as goma-shio (sesame salt) and subutsubu zakkoku (chunky mixed sesame). We recommend trying them all – sesame is a superfood, so this is a guilt-free snack, right?
