CRAFT: The Modern Machiya

Beautifully fusing Japanese design traditions and contemporary comfort, the newly restored Kyoto Moyashi House is a masterclass in architectural preservation. The 120-year-old machiya house was once a seed plantation and has been carefully converted to become an events venue and guesthouse that celebrates interior design traditions, from tatami-mat flooring to paper-covered windows and sand-textured walls.
